Why do I need to defrag my Computer?
If your computer is running slow and programs are slow to pop up its time to defrag.
Defragging a computer is simple to do and already pre-installed in your Windows computer. With only a few clicks of the mouse and you will be on your way to a healthy system.
Understanding why the computer needs to defrag:
Over time you add and delete files from the hard drive. This fragments files in the hard drive and spread the information through out the various disk drives. So you can be opening up a music file and can take a while to open up because the system has to find all the parts of the file and compile them. Defragging moves the file pieces closer together for optimal performance.

1 .Click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Defragmentor

2. Select the C: Drive

3. Sit back and Relax. This can take awhile depending on the size of the hard drive. I usually do this before going to bed. Note: Verify Hibernation or Standby is not enabled for overnight purposes. You can certainly work on the computer while defragmenting but performance will be slow.
4. Once completed you will see snapshot of how your computer looked before and after. The less red bars the better.
Congratulations! You have successfully defragged your hard drive. I recommend you do this twice a month or at the very minimum once a month. This will ensure a healthy and happy system.
